Remarks[K. Mauz, in litt. 16 Jan. 2017, "In the upper left is a packet with a label made by Parry: “Lake Co., Cala., C.G. Pringle, 1883”. It is a fragment, for sure, but those data don’t match the Pringle syntype (above), the locality for which was in Mendocino Co. Of course, it is possible that Pringle collected the plant also in Lake Co., but I know of no complete corresponding specimens, and it would be a non-type anyway. Regardless of the locality issue, the year is incorrect, as Pringle wasn’t in California in 1883, and he was only in Lake Co. in 1882. HOWEVER, note the Curran collection cited with the protologue: Lake Co., 1883. I wonder if Parry (who wrote the label) simply wrote in the wrong collector. His written labels for the Pringle specimen at ISC are correct as pertain the data cited in the protologue, and do match Pringle’s itinerary."]
