| Determination Remarks | This is the type specimen of Ammophhila breviligulata Fernald, the American Ammophila. Rhodora 22: 70-71. 1920. The writing above the label "Ammophila breviligulata Fernald, n. sp. Type." is evidently in Fernald's hand. The flag leaf is 18.7 cm long. Outer glumes range from 10.5 to 11.0 mm. Additional salient measurements of a dissected flower are: inner glume = 11.3 mm; lemma = 10.2 mm; palea = 8.8 mm; ligule = 1.4 mm; and anther = 4.3 mm (wet). |
