| Remarks | Prostrate shrub 2-6" high, creeping over rocks and open rocky hillside. Occasionally 1-, often 2-, usually 3- and pretty often 4- flowered. Corolla fleshy, bright crimson, slightly darker at the base. Filaments white, pink at base. Style crimson. Ovary grey. Calyx and pedicels crimson, scales white. Leaves matt dark green above, pale green below, veins showing darker. Very common, covering large areas of open rocky hillside or reddish brown. Corolla bright red or scarlet. Filaments white, anthers dark brown. Ovary purple with minute whitish hairs; style red; stigma brown |
