| Remarks | A gregarious undershrub, growing on the rocks at the highest limit of woody plants, mixed with the violet "lapponicum". leaves very closely lepidote below, with overlapping scales; upper surface polished, with a few scattered scales; margin, midrib, & petiole bristly. Calyx lepidote, fringed with long hairs. Flowers purple, slightly spotted, in trusses of three; the pedicel both lepidote and bristly. Corolla pubescent outside; filaments with tufts of hair at the base; style glabrous; ovary lepidote. At first sight might be mistaken for a "lapponicum", which the flowers more nearly resembles |
