RemarksShortly after this was collected, Mr. Caesar Thompson, a sexton of the church, arrived in his fancy pickup and more or less demanded to know Mr. Bradley and I were doing. "Collecting plants to make specimens for the herbarium at uSC", said as I disarmly as possible, and "Is that OK?" "NO," said he: "You are going to have to pay for them or spend the night in the Sumter County jail." I was considering this scenario...and then Mr. Thompson said," No, it's OK. I'm just kidding." What a relief! Then Bradley shows up, and Thompson sez to him "Do you think your friend here should spend some time in jail?" Bradley, not missing a beat, answered, "I think that might do him some good."
