| Remarks | [associated taxa:] with Cyperus strigosus, Oxalis violacea; (In this immediate area was "Shivar Spring Company", a beverage bottling operation from 1907-1957. A stone-sided sprny place still exists here, as do a series of several brick-concrete cisterns for the operation. For more info: https//delphi.tcl.sc.edu/library/digital/collections/shivar/index.html The current railroad immediately to the west follows the original path of the "Spartanburg & Union Railroad", in operation 1855-1878, which at its southern terminus was Alston, also in Fairfield County. The one-way trip between Spartanburg and Alston either way took about 5 hours. Shelton had a station just north of this collection site.) |
