[Month, locality and description from Smithsonian Contr. Knowl. 5(6): 25. 1853. This is not a duplicate of the 1851 type specimen. Gray had no duplicate material which is why he didn't assign a number to the 1851 type specimen. He used the 1851 labels for the 1852 collection and wrote over the 1 with a 2 in his original set. The 1851 specimen is a single plant and doesn't include the dwarf form found in the 1852 collections.]
