| Remarks | grove about 1/4 m s.w. of extensive diorite outcropping, where indigenous according to Minot Pratt. all three specimens from an old marked tree "This collection is not fromt the single stand of native Sugar Maple known to Henry Thoreau, Minot Pratt, and Alfred Hosmer. The native stand (relocated in 1982) is east of Sudbury Rd. (opposite side from School House site) and associated with Triosteum aurantiacum, both circumstances indicated by Pratt in his Mss. in Concord Library. In 1982 the "grove" consisted of about 7small to medium-sized trees and a number of seedlings. Largest tree was 4 ft. 4 in. in circumference." Ray Angelo 1982 |
