| Remarks | very rare on Lewes R. + did not see it at all on Yukon or Klondike rivers.; This spec. is rather defective, having been in the water twice, the 2nd time for 4 hours when our raft was wrecked on Whtie River. The fruit when young, has a very astringent taste somewhat resembling that of oak or elm bark, but when ripe it is slightly succulent + has a fine flavor, resembling that of [illegible]. |
